Players: You can become a football player and play semi-professionally or professionally. Athletes who make it to professional level have usually started playing football when they were in elementary school all the way through middle school, high school and then college. Throughout that time they have to maintain a certain grade point average and academic success. Most college football players often get a degree in the sports field along with another for back up.

Coaches: Coaches at the High school level are usually required to have a bachelor’s degree. If they look to attain anything hire, years of experience is the key to success. Coaches are noted for excellent leadership skills as well as their ability to communicate effectively. They should be able to effectively motivate and instruct athletes on a continual basis.

Referees: Referees usually start in the field by volunteering. They volunteer at local sports events and competitions. Through that time they build their knowledge of the game and if deemed necessary, get a degree in a sports related field. You will also need to be certified by an officiating school. In the NFL, 10 years of experience are necessary and 5 of those years are required to be at a college level. Moreover, to be excepted as a referee in the NFL, you are required to take tests, go before a board and undergo psychological evaluation.

Scout: To become a scout, it is a requirement that you have played football at a college or professional level yourself. You will act as a person who spots talent through observing local football events. These positions always start part time and can move to full-time positions after a history of success.

Announcers: Most announcers start off by working at their local radio station that either broadcasts sports or not. While being a radio personality, they also write sports columns and articles for their local paper. When it comes to education, a degree in sports journalism is a great tool to have. The other half of success is just to keep practicing until it becomes natural.

Football Medical Doctor: A football sports medical doctor is just the same as a regular doctor. The only difference is, they have specialized in sports medicine. The education routes these professionals must take are to complete a 4 year degree, do another 4 years at med school, 3-5 years of a residency, and then finally a 1 year of sports medicine education.

There are many schools offering degrees specifically in sports medicine, along with the other degrees and certifications necessary to become successful in this field. Football sports careers are often very competitive and highly sought after. In order to secure a profession in this field, you will have to prepare yourself appropriately through many avenues.
